On Sunday I mentioned that with the economy in the crapper, updating one's wardrobe with new pieces for the fall might not be an option for folks. So in addition to grabbing a few fashion-forward items at budget-worthy prices (see Shopping Blues post), adding updated accessories to the basics you already have might be a good Plan B. Items to consider include statement jewelry (think oversized cuffs and necklaces), purple shoes and bags, biker-inspired boots and bags, oxfords, and oversized clutches. Here's a great deal at Shopbop on a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, if you like structured bags that are slightly sophisticated. The Owl Convertible Clutch is so chic and it comes in midnight blue, which I really like. It was originally $328 and is now on sale $229.60.

Sutton Straw Bag

This bag at Banana Republic is the perfect summer bag and is structured enough for work and play. Grab it while you can on sale for only $110.60.

Kooba Molly Bag

Not that I am in the market for a new handbag, but for some reason I am drawn to white bags. And this one from Kooba looks ultra lux. I really like the side buckle and double straps, but its not exactly budget-friendly at $625, unless you are still wondering how to spend your stimulus check.

Posh Turn Lock Convertible Clutch

This is an old post revisted. After lusting after this bag for quite some time, I was fortunate enough that my husband decided to end my daydreaming and gave me this bag for my birthday! How great! Its really a fantastic bag.

I test drove this handbag a few weeks back at Nordstrom and I loved it! If you are looking to pick up a new handbag, you might want to consider it since it converts into an oversized clutch when you detach the strap. It comes in green, yellow, or black and has the necessary pockets inside for gals who like to maintain some organization in their bags. And when you use it as a shoulder bag, its the perfect length to keep it on your shoulder and still rummage through it, which is a major selling point for me. Neiman Marcus has it right now for $298.

Marc By Marc Jacobs Dr. Q Groovee Satchel

This Marc Jacobs hangbag is in the running for my big birthday present to myself. Its the perfect color and the larger size will allow me to tote everything I could possibly need while I am on the go.

Burberry Double Handle Satchel

This will be my one "fantasy" posting for the week, promise. I am guessing that you can't afford this anymore than I can or you wouldn't be reading this blog. But this Burbery Double Handle Satchel is gorgeous and if I could afford to drop grand on a bag, I am pretty sure it would be this one. Outside of the double handle and beautiful white leather, I adore the little inverted pleat. Anyhow, go ahead and dream about it with me at Nordstrom.

Joy Gryson's Bags at Target

I was really looking forward to checking out the Jovovich-Hawk line for Target when it finally became available earlier this month, but was a little disappointed at what I was able to check out in person at my local store (which is a common issue I face when I attempt to pick up stuff at H&M too). Ultimately, I ended up ordering a few things online (thank God for online shopping). So, I am crossing my fingers that the new limited edition handbag collection for Target by Joy Gryson, who has worked with Marc Jacobs, Coach, and Calvin Klein, is available for me to check out in person. I personally like to check out handbags in person (size is so hard to get a good handle on via the Web). The pieces will be available April 6th (a week from today) and the prices will range from $19.99 to $49.99. Fab Sugar has some images of what the new collection will entail, so check it out. I can't wait!

Isaac's Citrus Hued Bag

Remember what I said about loving the yellow bags that are everywhere this spring, but not really wanting it for everyday use. That was sorta true. I also have found that I have only been truly moved by bags that were a little more than what I wanted to spend. That was until I saw this Isaac Mizrahi for Target nylon bag in yellow (okay, they have white and black too) for only $30.

BCBG Quilted Minaudiere

Bag, Borrow or Steal has some cute BCBG mini bags that have been marked down to $45. I personally love yellow bags, but I really don't see myself buying one for everyday use, which is why this minaudiere is fantastic. It's the perfect size for a night out when it works with the rest of your ensemble. But if yellow isn't your thing, there's black, royal blue, and pink.

I Heart Green

Green is my favorite color, so the fact that its everywhere this spring in nature of course and accessories is fantastic. Check out this patent-leather bowler handbag by Maxx New York at Nordstrom. If green isn't your thing, it comes in yellow and red too. I have to have it!

Banana Republic Spring Sale

Banana Republic has a chunk of their early spring items on sale that are worth checking out. If you wear a lot of silver-toned jewelry and need something to tote items to and from work, this graphic print bag is on sale.

White Handbags

I have been looking for a new white handbag for the spring for a few weeks now. And although I haven't purchased it yet, these options caught my eye at Bag, Borrow or Steal. I haven't "borrowed" a bag from the site, but I like to check their outlet to see if there's anything available that moves me. These were a few of the white options that stuck out for me. I really like the Goldenbleu satchel.
